Brand History
Prada
Mario Prada founded his business in leather handbags, shoes, trunks, and suitcase in 1913 in Milan, Italy. His granddaughther, Miuccia Prada, had been making smart nylon backpacks since 1970, and took over the Prada company in 1978. By 1985, Prada had gained an international reputation for sleek and practical handbag and garment designs in elegant material to compete with the finest fashion hoses. A more affordable Miu Miu line was brought out in 1992 for Prada's younger customers. It featured more flowing shapes and earth colors, but kept the Prada classic appearance intact. In 1993, Prada earned the Council of Fashion designer of America award for accessories. Now Prada boutiques in dozen of cities worldwide offer their elegant fashions with the distinctive Prada silver triangle status symbol.
